The Watts WPWME-1 is a washing machine shutoff valve with a PEX Crimp inlet and a Hose Thread (GHT) outlet.
This washing machine shutoff valve includes two WaterPEX® brass 1/4-turn shut off valves, one for hot and one for cold water, enclosed in a white protective enclosure with faceplate. The shut off levers are color coded red and blue to distinguish the hot from cold water line. The valve is designed to fit standard washing machine hoses. The white enclosure comes with brackets.

Common Questions
- What tubing does this connect to?
- The WPWME-1 uses PEX crimp connections — it is a true PEX valve, not a push-to-connect fitting, so it needs PEX tubing and a crimp tool. It is not interchangeable with copper or CPVC without an adapter.
- Is this a quarter-turn or a multi-turn stop?
- Quarter-turn. The handle moves 90° from full open to full closed against a ball, so there is no stem packing to seize or weep — the usual failure of an old multi-turn stop that has not been operated in years.
- What outlet does this have?
- A 3/4 in male garden-hose thread (MGHT) outlet — it takes a standard garden hose or washing machine hose directly, with no adapter.
- Does this shut the water off automatically if a hose bursts?
- No — this is a manual valve. You get hot and cold shutoff from one handle, but someone has to turn it, and most washer hoses fail while nobody is home. For leak-triggered shutoff that works unattended, use the Watts A2C IntelliFlow, which senses the machine's current and closes both inlets on its own when its floor sensor sees water.
