Watts SS-DD PDI Size D Water Hammer Arrestor, Stainless, NPT

The Watts SS-DD is a pre-charged stainless steel bellows water hammer arrestor with NPT connections. It absorbs the pressure spike a quick-closing valve or appliance creates, protecting piping and fixtures from banging and shock damage. It is PDI size D under PDI Standard WH201, covering 61–113 fixture units. It features a stainless body. Rated to 250 psi.

This Watts pre-charged, all stainless steel shock arrestor features stainless steel bellows and a 1 inch male IPS threaded connection. It is designed to operate on all domestic and commercial lines up to 150 psi working pressure (61-113 fixture units) and 250 psi static pressure with a temperature range of 100 F to 300 F (-73 C to 149 C). The arrestor can be installed with a standard pipe tee vertically, horizontally or at and angle and complies with PDI WH201 and ASSE 101.

What size do I need for my fixtures?

The SS-DD is PDI size D under PDI Standard WH201, rated for 61–113 fixture units. Total the fixture units on the branch you are protecting and choose the letter whose range covers that total — PDI sizes run AA (1–3 fixture units) through F (155–330). Above 113 fixture units on the branch, step up to the next letter.

Is it ASSE 1010 certified?

Yes. The SS-DD is certified to ASSE 1010, the performance standard for water hammer arrestors, and complies with PDI WH201.

Is it lead-free / potable safe?

The SS-DD is not carried as a lead-free (LF) certified model. It is all-stainless construction, so there are no brass or bronze wetted parts, but the lead-free certification is not on file for it. Where a job specifically requires a lead-free certified arrestor, choose a Watts LF-prefixed model such as the LF15M2 series.

Does it need recharging?

No. The SS-DD is a pre-charged, permanently sealed stainless steel bellows unit. There is nothing to recharge and no maintenance is required.
