Watts SS-A PDI Size A Water Hammer Arrestor, NPT

The Watts SS-A is a pre-charged stainless steel bellows water hammer arrestor with NPT connections. It absorbs the pressure spike a quick-closing valve or appliance creates, protecting piping and fixtures from banging and shock damage. It is PDI size A under PDI Standard WH201, covering 1–11 fixture units. It is rated to 150 psi.

This Watts Drains pre-charged, all stainless steel shock arrestor features stainless steel bellows and a 3/4 inch male IPS threaded connection. It is designed for 1-11 fixture units and to operate on all domestic and commercial lines up to 150 psi working pressure, 250 psi static pressure and a temperature range of 100 F to 300 F, -73 C to 149 C. It complies with PDI WH201 and ASSE 101.

What size do I need for my fixtures?

The SS-A is PDI size A under PDI Standard WH201, rated for 1–11 fixture units. Total the fixture units on the branch you are protecting and choose the letter whose range covers that total — PDI sizes run AA (1–3 fixture units) through F (155–330). Above 11 fixture units on the branch, step up to the next letter.

Is it ASSE 1010 certified?

Yes. The SS-A is certified to ASSE 1010, the performance standard for water hammer arrestors, and complies with PDI WH201.

Is it lead-free / potable safe?

The SS-A is not carried as a lead-free (LF) certified model. It is all-stainless construction, so there are no brass or bronze wetted parts, but the lead-free certification is not on file for it. Where a job specifically requires a lead-free certified arrestor, choose a Watts LF-prefixed model such as the LF15M2 series.

Does it need recharging?
