Zurn 38-ZW3870XLT 3/8" Lead-Free Aqua-Gard® Thermostatic Mixing Valve, Lead-Free Bronze, FNPT

The Zurn Wilkins 38-ZW3870XLT is a 3/8" lead-free point-of-use thermostatic mixing valve with FNPT connections. It blends hot and cold water to a field-set outlet temperature of 95°F to 115°F. It is listed to ASSE-1070. It features a lead-free bronze body. Rated to 145 psi. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.

The Aqua-Gard® ZW3870XLT Thermostatic Mixing Valve is designed to be installed with 3/8" point-of-use applications (residential and light commercial installations) to mix hot and cold water from the distribution system to a final safer temperature. The ZW3870XLT is also available in a thermal flush option to allow maintenance personnel, using a special tool, to temporarily override the anti-scald function of the valve and flush the downstream system with high-temperature water for disinfection purposes.

Common Questions

Can I install this at a lavatory or sink - is it ASSE 1070 listed?

Yes. It is listed to ASSE 1070, the point-of-use scald-protection standard, so it is legal to install serving a lavatory, sink or similar fixture. Its outlet adjusts from 95°F to 115°F.

Does the hot and cold supply pressure matter?

Yes - the maximum allowed pressure differential between the hot and cold inlets is 15 psi. A bigger imbalance than that is a real install-failure mode: the valve cannot hold its set temperature if one side is starved relative to the other.

Does it have integral checks?

Yes. Check valves and strainer screens are built into the hot and cold inlets to stop cross-flow between the supplies and keep debris off the thermostat.

What is the hottest water this can accept on the hot side?

Up to 195°F. The valve blends it down to the safe outlet range regardless of how hot the supply runs, within its rated pressure and flow.
