The Watts LFN223FM2-S 3 is a 3" lead-free pressure reducing valve with Flanged connections. It reduces inlet pressure of up to 175 psi to an adjustable 25-75 psi downstream, factory set at 50 psi. It features a cast iron body and a epdm seat. Rated to 175 psi and 33°F to 160°F. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.
This 3 inch super capacity lead free water pressure reducing valve is commonly installed at the meter in residential, commercial and industrial buildings. It is designed to control the water pressure flowing to all the appliances and outlets within the building and provides an inexpensive means of supplying lower, more functional water pressure to outlets and appliances. It features an iron body construction, flanged end connections furnished with a separate strainer, high temperature resisting enlarged diaphragm for hot or cold temperatures, a sealed spring cage and seat orifice for super capacity performance and a semi balanced stainless steel piston to assure rapid response to pressure changes as well as to provide maximum flow with minor pressure drop. This valve can be used for accessible outdoor waterworks or pit installations. The adjustable reduced pressure range is 25 to 75 psi (172 to 517 kPa).

Common Questions
- Does it have a built-in bypass for thermal expansion, or do I still need an expansion tank?
- No - LFN223FM2-S 3 does not include a thermal-expansion bypass. Once this valve is installed the system downstream of it is closed, so a thermal expansion tank (and, where required, a relief valve) must be installed to absorb expansion from a water heater. If you want the bypass built in, choose the -B version of this model.
- What pressure is it set to out of the box?
- LFN223FM2-S 3 ships factory set at 50 psi. The adjustable reduced-pressure range is 25 to 75 psi, so you can dial the outlet anywhere in that band on site with the adjusting screw - loosen the locknut, turn in to raise pressure and out to lower it, then retighten and verify with a gauge.
- Does it include a strainer?
- Yes - LFN223FM2-S 3 has an integral stainless steel strainer built into the body, so you do not need a separate inline strainer ahead of it. The strainer is removable for cleaning; if the valve starts to lose downstream pressure, pull and rinse the strainer before assuming the seat has failed.
- Does it come with a gauge?
- No - LFN223FM2-S 3 has no gauge and no gauge tapping. Set the outlet pressure using a gauge elsewhere on the downstream piping. The -GG version of this model ships with a gauge tapping and a 160 psi gauge.
