The Watts LF25AUB-S-DU-HP-Z3 1/2 is a 1/2" lead-free pressure reducing valve with double union Sweat connections. It reduces inlet pressure of up to 300 psi to an adjustable 75-125 psi downstream, factory set at 90 psi. It features a copper body and a epdm seat. Rated to 300 psi and 33°F to 180°F. This 1/2 inch bronze water pressure reducing valve for high pressure ranges is designed to reduce incoming water pressure to protect plumbing systems and reduce water consumption for commercial, industrial and residential applications. The easy maintenance assembly consists of a replaceable seat module, solder union inlet and outlet connections and a bypass feature to control thermal expansion pressure. The temperature range is 33 to 180 degrees F (0.5 to 82 degrees C). The high pressure range is 75 to 125 psi (518 to 863 kPa) with the standard setting at 90 psi (621 kPa).

- Does it have a built-in bypass for thermal expansion, or do I still need an expansion tank?
- LF25AUB-S-DU-HP-Z3 1/2 includes an integral thermal-expansion bypass. When downstream pressure from a water heater rises above the inlet pressure, the bypass relieves that excess back through the valve toward the supply, which prevents nuisance pressure build-up on a closed system. It is not a substitute for a properly sized thermal expansion tank where your local code requires one - the bypass only relieves back to the street when street pressure is lower, so check the code in your jurisdiction.

- LF25AUB-S-DU-HP-Z3 1/2 ships factory set at 90 psi. The adjustable reduced-pressure range is 75 to 125 psi, so you can dial the outlet anywhere in that band on site with the adjusting screw - loosen the locknut, turn in to raise pressure and out to lower it, then retighten and verify with a gauge.

- Yes - LF25AUB-S-DU-HP-Z3 1/2 has an integral stainless steel strainer built into the body, so you do not need a separate inline strainer ahead of it. The strainer is removable for cleaning; if the valve starts to lose downstream pressure, pull and rinse the strainer before assuming the seat has failed.

- No - LF25AUB-S-DU-HP-Z3 1/2 has no gauge and no gauge tapping. Set the outlet pressure using a gauge elsewhere on the downstream piping. The -GG version of this model ships with a gauge tapping and a 160 psi gauge.
