Common Questions
- Crimp or expansion fitting -- which is this?
- This is a crimp/insert fitting (ASTM F1807): the barb pushes into the PEX tubing and a separate copper or stainless crimp ring is compressed over the joint with a crimp tool. It is not a cold-expansion (ASTM F1960, "ProPEX-style") fitting, which uses no loose ring at all -- the two systems are not interchangeable without swapping tooling.

- What outlet does this stop have?
- A 1/4" OD compression outlet -- the standard North American supply-line size, so an off-the-shelf braided supply connector threads straight on. The inlet side is PEX barb, secured with a crimp ring.
