Description
The Zurn Wilkins 3-500XLFC is a 3" lead-free pressure reducing valve with Flanged connections. It reduces inlet pressure of up to 300 psi to an adjustable 25-75 psi downstream, factory set at 50 psi. It features a lead-free bronze body. Rated to 300 psi and up to 140°F. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.
High flow rates and low fall-off are the hallmarks of the Wilkins 500XLFC series. The 500XLFC is perfect for your commercial or industrial pressure reduction applications requiring flanged connections.

Common Questions
- What pressure is it set to out of the box?
- 3-500XLFC ships factory set at 50 psi. The adjustable reduced-pressure range is 25 to 75 psi, so you can dial the outlet anywhere in that band on site with the adjusting bolt - loosen the locknut, turn to raise or lower pressure, retighten and verify with a downstream gauge.
- Does it include a strainer?
- No - 3-500XLFC does not have an integral strainer (this series relies on the integral by-pass check valve alone). On dirty or older supply lines, install a separate inline strainer (Zurn Wilkins SXL/FSC) upstream to keep debris off the seat.
- Does it have a built-in bypass for thermal expansion, or do I still need an expansion tank?
- 3-500XLFC includes an integral thermal-expansion bypass that relieves excess downstream pressure back toward the supply when street pressure is lower. It is not a substitute for a properly sized expansion tank where your local code requires one - the bypass only relieves back to the street when street pressure is lower than the closed-system pressure.
