Description
The Zurn Wilkins 212-ZW209BP is a 2-1/2" lead-free pilot-operated, diaphragm-actuated pressure reducing valve with an integral low-flow bypass with Flanged end connections, built for waterworks and commercial water-distribution service. It features a ductile iron body. Rated to 250 psi and 33°F to 140°F. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.
The ZW209BP Pilot Operated Pressure Reducing Valve or Automatic Control Valve (ACV) with low flow bypass is utilized in multiple residential and commercial applications where steady downstream pressure is required, and prevents chattering of the main valve from 0 to 10 GPM. The ZW209BP pilot assembly allows the main valve to modulate between closed and open for a constant downstream pressure, and seals shut after reaching the pilot setting to prevent possible downstream damage. Internal and external epoxy coating offers corrosion-resistance, while the isolation valves and pressure gauges provide easy setup, maintenance and repair.
Features
- Epoxy coating of internals and externals protects against corrosion
- Inlet and outlet pressure gauges, wye strainer, and isolation valves come standard and provide for quick and easy maintenance or repair
- Reactive pilot assembly ensures constant downstream set pressure
- Ideal for accommodating both high and low flow rates
- 150 class flanged, 300 class flanged, grooved, and threaded end connections available for versatile installation
- Globe, reduced port globe, and angle bodies available
- ANSI/AWWA C530
- Meets the requirements of NSF/ANSI 61
Common Questions
- What sets the downstream pressure?
- A pilot valve on the discharge side senses downstream pressure and modulates the main diaphragm valve to hold it within a narrow band regardless of flow rate. The pilot is field adjustable from 15 to 120 psi (this valve's standard spring range).
- What is the maximum working pressure?
- This valve is built as 150# Flanged and is rated to 250 psi. Confirm the end connection and class match your piping before ordering - Threaded/Grooved and flanged bodies on this platform carry different pressure ceilings.
- What does the integral low-flow bypass do?
- A large control valve cannot hold a stable outlet pressure at very low demand. The ZW209BP adds a small bypass regulator piped around the main valve that takes over at low flow and holds the setpoint, handing back to the main valve as demand rises.
- Is this UL Listed or FM Approved for fire protection?
- No - this is a waterworks pressure reducing valve certified to ANSI/AWWA C530 and NSF/ANSI/CAN 61 for potable water distribution. Zurn's UL/FM fire-protection pressure valves are a separate product line (ZW4000/ZW5000).
