The Watts U009M2-QT-S-SH-FS 3/4 is a 3/4" reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow preventer with Union connections, approved for high health hazard protection. It features a bronze body and a silicone seat. Rated to 175 psi and 33°F to 180°F.
This 3/4 inch reduced pressure zone backflow preventer assembly is designed to prevent the flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and or backpressure in accordance with national plumbing codes and water authority requirements. Its compact modular design facilitates easy maintenance with a single access cover for in-line repairs. This assembly consists of a bronze body and strainer, union connections, quarter turn ball valve shutoffs with stainless steel lever handles, top mounted test cocks, two in-line independent check valves, captured springs, and replaceable check seats with an internal relief valve for reduced space requirements. This backflow assembly includes flood sensor with SentryPlus Alert® technology to detect excessive water discharges from the relief valve. When paired with an add‑on connection kit, the sensor is activated to relay alerts for potential flooding events. Connection kit options include BMS, cellular communication, and the Sensor Control Monitor which enables integration with BAS via RS‑485 Modbus or the Nexa® platform through Wi-Fi.

- It is rated for high health hazard (toxic) cross-connections, so it may be used on either high or low hazard service. The assembly is listed to ASSE 1013.
- Can this be installed on potable water?
- No. This model is not certified lead-free, so it may not be installed in potable water systems in states enforcing the NSF/ANSI 372 weighted-average lead rule. Use it on non-potable service — fire lines, irrigation or industrial water — or order the LF (lead-free) version of this model for drinking-water use.
- Does this assembly have to be tested every year?
- Yes. This is a field-testable assembly with 4 test cocks. Most water authorities require it to be tested and certified by a licensed backflow tester at installation and annually thereafter. It carries USC FCCCHR approval, which many jurisdictions accept as their sole approval list.
