Watts RPV-ST M1 1 Balancing Valve, Brass, Sweat

The Watts RPV-ST M1 1 is a 1" purge and balance valve with Sweat connections. It features a brass body and a ptfe seat. Rated to 50 psi.

This 1 inch residential purge and balancing valve is used in heating applications to facilitate removal of air from heating zones on initial fill and to control water flow through a circulation loop. It also serves as a shutoff valve and a drain valve for each zone or loop. This valve consists of a one-piece brass body with brass drain, plated brass ball, virgin PTFE seats, hose thread connection for purging, iron handle, and sweat by FPT end connections. It provides high volume purging, accurate balancing, a positive drip-tight shutoff and is ideal for use in hydronic heating loops. The maximum working pressure is 50 psi (344.8kPa).

Common Questions

Do I need a separate meter to read the flow?

The RPV-ST M1 1 has no metering ports and no flow dial, so it cannot measure flow at all — it only throttles it. Balance it against a flow meter elsewhere in the circuit, or choose a Watts CSM circuit sensor valve (PT ports) or an iDROSET CSD (direct-reading dial) if you need to measure and set flow at the valve.

Can it also shut off the circuit?

Yes. The RPV-ST M1 1 gives positive, drip-tight shutoff, so it doubles as the service valve for the circuit and you do not have to buy and install a separate ball valve next to it.

Can I use it on a domestic hot water recirculation line?

No. The RPV-ST M1 1 is not a lead-free model, so it is restricted to closed hydronic heating and chilled-water loops and other non-potable service. For DHW recirculation balancing, choose the lead-free equivalent — the Watts LFCSM-61-S (PT-port) or LFiDROSET CSD (direct-reading).
