The Watts LFU5B-GG-HP-Z3 2 is a 2" lead-free pressure reducing valve with NPT connections. It reduces inlet pressure of up to 300 psi to an adjustable 75-100 psi downstream, factory set at 90 psi. This 2 inch lead free high performance water pressure reducing valve is equipped for high pressure ranges with gauge tapping and a 160 psi (11.0 bar) gauge. It is designed to reduce incoming water pressure to protect plumbing systems and reduce water consumption for commercial, industrial and residential applications. The easy maintenance assembly consists of a replaceable seat module and a bypass feature to control thermal expansion pressure. The temperature range is 33 to 160 degrees F (0.5 to 71 degrees C). - Does it have a built-in bypass for thermal expansion, or do I still need an expansion tank?
- LFU5B-GG-HP-Z3 2 includes an integral thermal-expansion bypass. When downstream pressure from a water heater rises above the inlet pressure, the bypass relieves that excess back through the valve toward the supply, which prevents nuisance pressure build-up on a closed system. It is not a substitute for a properly sized thermal expansion tank where your local code requires one - the bypass only relieves back to the street when street pressure is lower, so check the code in your jurisdiction.
