The Watts LFL1170M2-US 3/4 is a 3/4" lead-free low-temperature master mixing valve with Sweat connections. It blends hot and cold water to hold a field-adjustable outlet temperature of 60°F to 120°F. It is listed to ASSE 1017. It features a copper body and a epdm seat. Rated to 150 psi. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.
This 3/4 inch lead free hot water control valve is designed for installation on water heating equipment to provide tempered water to point-of-use fixtures and is ideal for radiant heat applications. The double throttling design combines hot and cold water control for a sensitive response to water temperature changes in the mixing chamber. It consists of a lead free brass body, solder union connections, solid wax hydraulic principle thermostat, integral filter washers and check valves, virtual shutoff upon loss of cold water supply, and a locking mechanism for the temperature setting. The maximum pressure is 150 psi (10.3 bar). The adjustable field range temperature is 60 to 120 degrees F (16 to 49 degrees C).
Features
- Lead free brass construction
- Thermal actuation technology for precise temperature control
- Integral filter washers and check valves
- CSA certified B125 and ASSE 1017, IAPMO and UPC listed
Common Questions
- Can I use this at a lavatory — is it ASSE 1070 listed?
- No. This valve is listed to ASSE 1017 only, which is a point-of-distribution standard: it tempers water leaving the water heater for the building distribution piping. An ASSE 1017 valve should never deliver water directly to a user. For a lavatory you need an ASSE 1070 listed valve, and for a shower an ASSE 1016 device — install one of those downstream of this valve.
- What temperature range does it deliver?
- The outlet temperature is field-adjustable from 60°F to 120°F. This is the low-temperature version of the series, intended for radiant heat rather than domestic hot water. The hot inlet may be supplied at up to 200°F. It holds that setting down to 0.5 gpm of flow. Set it for the distribution system, not for the fixture — a point-of-use valve downstream sets the final delivered temperature.
- Does it have integral checks?
- Yes. Check valves are built into the hot and cold inlets to stop cross-flow between the supplies, along with integral filter washers/screens that keep debris off the thermostat. No separate check valves are needed at the valve.
- Can I lock the temperature setting?
- Yes. A locking mechanism secures the temperature setting once it is dialed in, so it cannot be moved without deliberately unlocking it.
- What happens if the cold water supply fails?
- The valve shuts down to a virtual drip, so a cold-supply failure cannot send full-temperature hot water downstream.
