Watts LFFBV-TC-TH 1/2 Lead-Free Balancing Valve, Bronze, FNPT

The Watts LFFBV-TC-TH 1/2 is a 1/2" lead-free full-port throttling ball valve with FNPT connections. It features a bronze body and a ptfe seat. Rated to 600 psi and up to 350°F. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.

This 1/2 inch lead free two-piece, full port, ball valve with female threaded end connections is used in commercial and industrial backflow applications. The valve features bronze body construction, adjustable packing gland, chrome-plated bronze ball, virgin PTFE seats and seals, a bottom loaded blowout proof stem, test cock and a tee handle. Each valve undergoes extensive factory testing before it is shipped, assuring a quality Watts product. The temperature range is 0 to 350 degrees F (-18 to 177 degrees C) at 50 psi (344.7 kPa). The pressure range is 600 psi (41.3 bar) WOG non-shock at 100 degrees F (38 degrees C) and 125 psi (8.6 bar) WSP.

Common Questions

Do I need a separate meter to read the flow?

The LFFBV-TC-TH 1/2 has no metering ports and no flow dial, so it cannot measure flow at all — it only throttles it. Balance it against a flow meter elsewhere in the circuit, or choose a Watts CSM circuit sensor valve (PT ports) or an iDROSET CSD (direct-reading dial) if you need to measure and set flow at the valve.

Can it also shut off the circuit?

Yes. The LFFBV-TC-TH 1/2 gives positive, drip-tight shutoff, so it doubles as the service valve for the circuit and you do not have to buy and install a separate ball valve next to it.

Can I use it on a domestic hot water recirculation line?

Legally, yes — the LFFBV-TC-TH 1/2 is a lead-free model, so it is approved for potable water and can serve as the throttling and isolation valve on a DHW line. Practically, it is only half the job: the valve has no metering ports, so it cannot measure the recirculation flow you are trying to set. For balancing a DHW recirculation loop by the numbers, use the lead-free Watts LFCSM-61-S (PT-port) or LFiDROSET CSD (direct-reading) instead.
