The Watts LFCSM-61-M2-S 1 1/2 is a 1-1/2" lead-free manual circuit balancing valve with Sweat connections. It features a lead-free bronze body and a fkm (viton) seat. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.
This 1 1/2 inch lead free flow measurement valve monitors system flow in low to medium flow rate HVAC units, providing a highly accurate flow measurement. It consists of lead free body construction with bi-directional, positive shutoff ball valve design, blow-out proof stem, a position indicator, memory device, checked metering ports with drip caps, two pressure taps, integral drain ports, solder connections, and a drain plug. It has a compact size which allows for easy installation and access in a crowded piping environment and is ideal in hot/chilled water units such as fan coil units, water source heat pumps, unit heaters, unit ventilators, finned radiation, and small domestic hot water lines.

- Do I need a separate meter to read the flow?
- Yes. The LFCSM-61-M2-S 1 1/2 is a differential-pressure device: it meters through dual PT (pressure/temperature) ports with checked drip caps. You connect a balancing meter (or a differential gauge) across the two ports, read the pressure drop, and convert it to GPM using the Watts flow chart for the 1-1/2" body. The valve does not display flow on its own. If you want set-and-read balancing without a meter, use the Watts iDROSET CSD direct-reading series instead.
- Can it also shut off the circuit?
- Yes. The LFCSM-61-M2-S 1 1/2 gives positive, drip-tight shutoff, so it doubles as the service valve for the circuit and you do not have to buy and install a separate ball valve next to it. The memory stop preserves your balanced setting: close the valve for service, reopen it against the stop, and the circuit returns to the same flow without rebalancing.
- Can I use it on a domestic hot water recirculation line?
- Yes. The LFCSM-61-M2-S 1 1/2 is a lead-free model, which is what makes it legal for potable water — balancing a DHW recirculation loop means the valve sits in the drinking-water path. Use it to set the return flow on each riser so the far fixtures get hot water without over-pumping the near ones. The standard (non-LF) models in this series are for closed hydronic loops only.
