Watts LF7U2-2 1 1/4X1 1/4 Lead-Free Dual Check Valve Backflow Preventer, FNPT

The Watts LF7U2-2 1 1/4X1 1/4 is a 1-1/4" lead-free dual check valve with FNPT connections, approved for low health hazard protection. It features a buna-n seat. Rated to 150 psi. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.

This 1 1/4 inch lead free dual check valve backflow preventer helps prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the drinking water supply at the service entrance or at individual outlets. It consists of a lead free cast copper silicon alloy body with two plastic replaceable check valves, stainless steel springs, and 1 1/4 inch NPT female thread union inlet by 1 1/4 inch NPT female thread outlet. This valve is designed for non-health hazard residential water system containment, continuous pressure applications. It is installed immediately downstream of the residential water meter, in a vertical or horizontal position. Minimum working pressure is 10 psi (69 kPa). Maximum working pressure is 150 psi (10 bar).

What hazard level is this Dual Check approved for?

It is rated for low health hazard (non-toxic, "pollutant") cross-connections only. Where the substance downstream could be a health hazard, codes require a reduced pressure zone (RPZ) assembly instead. The assembly is listed to ASSE 1024.

Is this model legal for potable water?

Yes. It is certified lead-free to NSF/ANSI 372, which is what state plumbing codes require for any device in a drinking-water line.

Can this device be field tested?

No. It has no test cocks and is not a testable assembly, so it cannot be certified by a backflow tester. Where a jurisdiction requires an annually tested device, specify a testable assembly (double check, RPZ, or PVB) instead.

It is approved for either horizontal or vertical installation, with the flow arrow on the body pointing in the direction of flow.
