The Watts LF008PCQT-L 3/8 is a 3/8" lead-free pressure vacuum breaker, approved for high health hazard protection. It features a copper body and a epdm seat. Rated to 150 psi and 33°F to 180°F. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.
This 3/8" lead free anti-siphon, spill resistant, vacuum breaker backflow preventer prevents the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage on indoor point-of-use applications. It consists of an internal polymer coating, bronze body construction, thermoplastic check and float assembly valve, stainless steel springs, tee handles, a left sided test cock, and a molded diaphragm separating the air inlet from the potable water supply to prevent spillage. It is ideal for indoor use on machines or equipment in general plumbing applications. Maximum working pressure is 150 psi (10.34 bar). Minimum working pressure is 8 psi (55.2 kPa).

Common Questions
- What hazard level is this PVB approved for?
- It is rated for high health hazard (toxic) cross-connections, but only against backsiphonage. The assembly is listed to ASSE 1020.
- Is this model legal for potable water?
- Yes. It is certified lead-free to NSF/ANSI 372, which is what state plumbing codes require for any device in a drinking-water line.
- Does this assembly have to be tested every year?
- Yes. This is a field-testable assembly. Most water authorities require it to be tested and certified by a licensed backflow tester at installation and annually thereafter. It carries USC FCCCHR approval, which many jurisdictions accept as their sole approval list.
- Will this protect against backpressure?
- No. A pressure vacuum breaker protects against backsiphonage only. It will not stop backflow caused by backpressure — a downstream pump, elevated piping or a boiler — which requires a double check or RPZ assembly.
- What shutoff valves are included?
- It is supplied with quarter-turn ball valves on the inlet and outlet.
- How does this have to be installed?
- It must be installed vertically (upright), above the highest downstream outlet, per the installation instructions and its ASSE listing.
