Watts ACV12 1/2" Check Valve, Glass-Reinforced Nylon, FNPT

The Watts ACV12 is a 1/2" silent spring check valve with FNPT connections. It permits flow in one direction and closes against reverse flow. It features a glass-reinforced nylon body and a buna-n seat. Rated to 230 psi.

This 1/2 inch female check valve is a spring-loaded non-return valve which can be installed inline or at any angle. This check valve allows the fluid to flow in one direction only and is ideal for pumping, marine, irrigation, domestic, agricultural, and industrial applications. The valve consists of a fiberglass reinforced nylon body, female NPT threads, 316 stainless steel spring, acetyl plunger, and nitrile rubber seal and O-ring. This valve is strong and lightweight and can be taken apart as needed for servicing.

Common Questions

Can I install it vertically?

Yes. The ACV12 is spring-loaded, so it seats at any angle — vertical, horizontal, or on an incline. Only the flow-direction arrow has to be right.

Will it slam or cause water hammer?

No. The spring closes the disc before the flow actually reverses, so the valve seats silently instead of being slammed shut by the returning column of water. That is the point of a silent (non-slam) check.

Does it come with a strainer?

No. This is an inline check valve only. If the line carries debris, install a strainer upstream — grit on the seat is the usual cause of a check valve weeping by.

Is it potable rated?

No. This model is not certified lead-free, so it is not for potable-water piping — it is specified for domestic water service. Watts LF-prefixed check valves cover potable applications.
