The Watts 994-LF 4 is a 4" lead-free reduced pressure zone (RPZ) backflow preventer, approved for high health hazard protection. It features a stainless body. Rated to 175 psi and 33°F to 110°F. This model is certified lead-free for potable-water installations.
This 4 inch lead free reduced pressure zone assembly backflow preventer is assembled without shutoffs and is designed to prevent the reverse flow of fire protection substances and water of non-potable quality from being pumped or siphoned into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage and or backpressure in accordance with national plumbing codes and water authority requirements. Its compact modular design facilitates easy maintenance with a single access cover for in-line repairs. It is ideal for protection in continuous pressure piping applications and at cross-connections identified as health hazards and from other contaminants found at the service line entrance. This assembly consists of a short lay length stainless steel body, test cocks, corrosive resistant stainless steel bottom mounted relief valve, and torsion spring check valves.

- It is rated for high health hazard (toxic) cross-connections, so it may be used on either high or low hazard service. The assembly is listed to ASSE 1013.
- Is this model legal for potable water?
- Yes. It is certified lead-free to NSF/ANSI 372, which is what state plumbing codes require for any device in a drinking-water line.
- Does this assembly have to be tested every year?
