How does it mount?

It is a roof hydrant, not a wall hydrant. The cast-iron mounting plate and clamping collar set into the roof deck and the casing runs down through the structure, so there is no wall thickness to match.

Is it freeze-proof, and will it drain itself?

Yes on both. It is a non-freeze design: the valve sits down in the casing below the roof line where it stays warm, and the casing empties through the 1/8" NPT drain port each time you shut it off. Pull the hose off before winter so nothing traps water above the valve.

Does it have a built-in vacuum breaker (anti-siphon)?

No, this model has no vacuum breaker. Where the code requires backflow protection on a hose connection, plan on an add-on breaker at the outlet, or choose a model with an integral vacuum breaker.

Do I need a key to operate it?

No key. The cast-iron head has a lift handle, and the head accepts a padlock if you need to keep the roof supply secured.
