The Watts 800M4-QT-FZ 1 1/4 is a 1-1/4" pressure vacuum breaker with FNPT connections, approved for high health hazard protection. It features a bronze body and a silicone seat. Rated to 150 psi.
This 1 1/4 inch anti-siphon pressure vacuum breaker backflow preventer helps prevent the reverse flow of polluted water from entering into the potable water supply due to backsiphonage. It consists of bronze body construction, silicone rubber check valve disc, plastic check valve seat, stainless steel springs, a bonnet with silicone rubber O-ring seal, a lightweight plastic disc float, lever handle shutoffs, and test cocks for winterization draining. It is ideal in health hazard continuous pressure applications such as irrigation systems and industrial process water systems where the water enters the equipment at or below its flood rim. Maximum pressure is 150 psi (10.3 bar). Minimum pressure is 15 psi (55kPa). The pressure vacuum breaker includes a freeze sensor for use with SentryPlus Alert® technology to signal facility personnel when temperature nears and reaches the freezing point. Freeze alerts feature available with add-on connection kit for Wi-Fi networks, building management systems (BMS), irrigation management systems (IMS).

Common Questions
- What hazard level is this PVB approved for?
- It is rated for high health hazard (toxic) cross-connections, but only against backsiphonage. The assembly is listed to ASSE 1020.
- Can this be installed on potable water?
- No. This model is not certified lead-free, so it may not be installed in potable water systems in states enforcing the NSF/ANSI 372 weighted-average lead rule. Use it on non-potable service — fire lines, irrigation or industrial water — or order the LF (lead-free) version of this model for drinking-water use.
- Does this assembly have to be tested every year?
- Yes. This is a field-testable assembly. Most water authorities require it to be tested and certified by a licensed backflow tester at installation and annually thereafter. It carries USC FCCCHR approval, which many jurisdictions accept as their sole approval list.
- Will this protect against backpressure?
- No. A pressure vacuum breaker protects against backsiphonage only. It will not stop backflow caused by backpressure — a downstream pump, elevated piping or a boiler — which requires a double check or RPZ assembly.
- What shutoff valves are included?
- It is supplied with quarter-turn ball valves on the inlet and outlet.
- How does this have to be installed?
- It must be installed vertically (upright), above the highest downstream outlet, per the installation instructions and its ASSE listing.
