Watts 600-Z3 1 1/2 Check Valve, Bronze, NPT

The Watts 600-Z3 1 1/2 is a 1-1/2" silent spring check valve with NPT connections. It permits flow in one direction and closes against reverse flow. It features a bronze body and a ptfe seat. Rated to 400 psi.

This steam check valve, 1 1/2 inch model 600-Z3, is used in high cycle steam applications. It features a bronze body heavy internal construction for longer life, conical 316 stainless steel disc for full fluid flow, Super PTFE seat for higher temperature rating and heavy duty stainless guide road to enhance disc guidance. This silent check valve has a low pressure drop and can be installed in a horizontal or vertical position. The maximum pressure is 400 psi (27.6 bar) WOG (non-shock) at negative 20 degree F to 100 degree F ( negative 29 degree C to 38 degree C) and 150 psi (11 bar) WSP at 366 degree F (186 degree C).

Common Questions

Can I install it vertically?

Yes. The 600-Z3 1 1/2 is rated for horizontal or vertical lines because the spring, not gravity, closes the disc. In a vertical run the flow must be upward through the valve, following the body arrow.

Will it slam or cause water hammer?

No. The spring closes the disc before the flow actually reverses, so the valve seats silently instead of being slammed shut by the returning column of water. That is the point of a silent (non-slam) check.

Does it come with a strainer?

No. This is an inline check valve only. If the line carries debris, install a strainer upstream — grit on the seat is the usual cause of a check valve weeping by.

Is it potable rated?

No. This model is not certified lead-free, so it is not for potable-water piping — it is specified for steam service. Watts LF-prefixed check valves cover potable applications.
