Watts 405-RW 10 Gate Valve, Cast Iron, Flanged

The Watts 405-RW 10 is a 10" gate valve with a non-rising stem (NRS), a resilient wedge and Flanged connections. It features a cast iron body and a rubber seat. Rated to 200 psi and up to 140°F.

The 10 inch non-rising stem resilient wedge flanged gate valve is designed for use in irrigation and water distribution services. It features an epoxy coated cast iron body with ANSI B16.1 flanged connections, resilient wedge disc, cast iron bonnet, bronze non-rising stem and is operated by a cast iron handwheel. The resilient wedge disc design offers both positive seating and resistance against high differential pressure. The maximum pressure rating is 200 psi (13.8 bar) CWP.

Common Questions

Is this UL/FM listed for fire service?

No. Series 405 is not UL/FM listed — it is built for water distribution and irrigation service at 200 psi CWP. For a fire main shutoff, use the UL/FM listed 408-OSY-RW instead.

Rising or non-rising stem?

Non-rising stem (NRS). The stem turns but does not travel, so the valve fits tight spaces, buried service and pits. There is no visual open/closed indication — use an OS&Y valve where that is required.

Is this a complete valve or just the replacement gate?

Complete valve. The 405-RW 10 ships as a full assembly — body, bonnet, wedge, stem and handwheel. The Watts NRS-RW-GATE / OSY-RW-GATE items are gate assemblies only, sold to service an existing valve.

What does "resilient wedge" mean?

The wedge is a ductile-iron disc fully encapsulated in rubber, so it seals bubble-tight against the epoxy-coated body without a bronze seat ring and holds up against high differential pressure.
