- Is this valve suitable for food, beverage, or hygienic service?
- Yes. The body and disc are 316L stainless steel with a 32 Ra polished internal finish to limit product entrapment, and the valve is designed for clean-in-place and steam-in-place (CIP/SIP) cycles as well as liquid-cooling loops.
- How does this valve connect to my line?
- It has tube weld ends in 4", which give a permanent, crevice-free joint with no gasket to trap product — but it must be welded in, so plan on removing the disc and seat before welding. If you need to break the line for cleaning or service, the W7400 version of this valve has Tri Clamp ends instead.
- Why does this model use a gear operator instead of a lever?
- At 4" the torque needed to unseat the disc is more than a hand lever can comfortably deliver, so this model ships with an enclosed gear operator and handwheel. The gearing also lets you throttle precisely and holds the disc position against flow, rather than relying on a detent plate.
