This faucet uses Chicago Faucets' Self Sustaining Power System (SSPS): a water-flow turbine generates its own power every time it runs, so there is no battery or wiring at all.

Yes. It has a built-in ASSE 1070 thermostatic mixing valve, so the delivered water temperature is limited even if the hot supply runs too hot -- the code-required protection for K-12, healthcare and similar occupancies.

How long does the water run before it shuts off?

The sensor holds the water on for 10 seconds of continuous hand presence, then the safety auto-timeout closes it automatically. Removing and re-presenting your hands restarts detection.
