This faucet is powered by a direct 120 VAC to 6 VDC hardwire connection -- plan for an electrician to run power to the fixture. There is no battery to replace.

Does it include scald protection?

Yes. It has a built-in ASSE 1070 thermostatic mixing valve, so the delivered water temperature is limited even if the hot supply runs too hot -- the code-required protection for K-12, healthcare and similar occupancies.

How long does the water run before it shuts off?

The sensor holds the water on for 10 seconds of continuous hand presence, then the safety auto-timeout closes it automatically. Removing and re-presenting your hands restarts detection.
