Does it include scald protection?

It has a mechanical mixing valve to blend hot and cold supply, but it is not an ASSE 1070 thermostatic valve. Where code requires certified scald protection, specify a Thermostatic Mixing Valve (ASSE 1070) model instead.

How long does the water run before it shuts off?

The sensor holds the water on for 10 seconds of continuous hand presence, then the safety auto-timeout closes it automatically. Removing and re-presenting your hands restarts detection.
