The adjustable reduced-pressure range is 15 to 75 psi, so you can dial the outlet anywhere in that band on site with the adjusting bolt - loosen the locknut, turn to raise or lower pressure, retighten and verify with a downstream gauge.

Does it include a strainer?

No - 1-500XL3 does not have an integral strainer (this series relies on the integral by-pass check valve alone). On dirty or older supply lines, install a separate inline strainer (Zurn Wilkins SXL/FSC) upstream to keep debris off the seat.

Does it have a built-in bypass for thermal expansion, or do I still need an expansion tank?

1-500XL3 includes an integral thermal-expansion bypass that relieves excess downstream pressure back toward the supply when street pressure is lower. It is not a substitute for a properly sized expansion tank where your local code requires one - the bypass only relieves back to the street when street pressure is lower than the closed-system pressure.

Specifications

Type: High Capacity Commercial Grade Water Pressure Reducing Valve with Venturi

Size: 1"

Inlet Size: 1"

Outlet Size: 1"

Connection: FNPT

Body Material: Lead-Free Bronze

Max Pressure (psi): 400

Application: Domestic Water

MPN: 1-500XL3

Temperature: up to 140°F

Certifications: ASSE-1003, IAPMO, CSA-B356, NSF-61, NSF-372

Lead-Free: Yes

Factory Set Pressure (psi): 50

Adjustable Range - Min (psi): 15

Adjustable Range - Max (psi): 75

Thermal Expansion Bypass: Yes

Integral Strainer: No

Gauge: None

Union Configuration: Single Union

Capacity Class: High Capacity

Regulated Media: Domestic Water

Bell Housing: Standard

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0277/3168/9577/files/2-500XL3_F_9e71d40a-f6c5-4b3e-96b9-6b9c0f920d46.jpg?v=1790049209
